Keep it stupid simple.
As simple as possible, but not simpler than that
It is always our motivation and aim to be innovative, but also critically selective knowing when to reject ideas that are too complicated.

We prefer to be involved throughout the entire process,
or at least to supervise in the later stages of the project. This is specific to SMALL ship design! As early as in the concept design phase it is necessary to plan the structure and the systems bearing the production aspects in mind, as well as the vessel operation and the maintenance. If the engineers do not work narrowly with the concept designer, major misunderstandings tend to occur.
This is specific to SMALL ship design!
Some details must be solved immediately at the beginning as they are critical to the functionality and the shape of the ship. This means the DETAIL DESIGN is resolved in the phase of the CONCEPT DESIGN. It is most difficult to deal with the best (most innovative) concepts. We stick to the old-fashioned design spiral, only to deviate from it where necessary to solve details.
Only a control-freak-type attention to details leads to a top-class small ship.
The design is only good if it can be implemented by way of investing a reasonable effort.
A well-defined task is the key to success.
By creating a questionnaire for the client we facilitate the process of the defining of the design task. Targeted market niche? Selling points? Optimal construction technologies? ….
A well-defined design task has a list of design criteria that are PRIORITISED.
Styling OR cost-effective production? Easy maintenance OR longer range? Weight OR cost saving? …
Our approach includes devoting all our time to a single project at the time.
When not engaged in the work, it is time to sail, kayak, hike, ski. Lucky to be near the sea and not far from the Alps.
The space between form and function is an endless space to explore, and it’s always exciting to do it.
We often hear, “a boat isn’t a space shuttle”. If the goal is to be among the best in the world in terms of price and quality, not even producing pencils is simple (or soaps, boards… regardless). Small ships often constitute a greater challenge to design than big ships, simply due to less space.
